Family Consultation
When someone in your family is suffering from an eating disorder, addiction, or other mental health challenge, the whole system is strained. Families are not the cause of illnesses; they are the solution. In fact, the people in our family and partner relationships can be the most effective and powerful units of change. I wholeheartedly believe that recovery is possible, even in the most complex situations.
As a caregiver or support person, you may feel that you are frustrated and lost in a healthcare system that focuses mostly on the individual, especially when the person is an adult. Resources for families and support persons are limited and can even be blocked by the individual not wanting to burden their family or feeling scared to include them.

I can assure you that your loved one needs your support
as they walk a very tough road on the journey to recovery.
For example, for those with eating disorders, they need to navigate a world in which the things they struggle with most - food and their body - is always with them. Every life event, holiday, vacation, stressor, or celebration can be a challenge for them. Unlike the addiction models of abstinence, we cannot remove food and their body from a person with an eating disorder. Instead, we need to help them change their relationship with both.
